The Birth of the Sea – Hug

This sculpture in primary colors fascinatingly dialogues with the space in which it is located, through the force of the applied colors and through the dynamics of the drawing, like a poem. Its vibrant and explosive colors generate universes of imagination, which we can attribute to the marine space. Its fine tapestry captures the light and distributes it to the viewer in a play of colors and shapes that encourages exploration. About the artist

Ioan Nemtoi is one of Europe’s most popular contemporary glass artists. He works from his studio in Botosani, Romania – the hometown where he was born and spent his youth.

Graduating from the Bucharest Academy of Fine Arts in 1991, Nemtoi set out to make his mark on the world of glass art. And with his great skill and singularly unique approach to glassmaking he has certainly achieved that goal.

Nemtoi is especially renowned for his use of colors and the unique marbling effect he creates with multiple layers of molten glass. His exquisite glass art creations including vases, perfume bottles, bowls, candleholders and plates have been displayed in some of the most prestigious galleries and museums in Europe.
