Hourglass Measuring the Golden Time

Of unparalleled richness, the colors rush into this work in full emotion. Fascinating, poured in a cascade, they decompose on the outer walls of the work, stretching their shadows towards the edges of the contained universe. Multi-layered, it creates an emotional web for the viewer, who is waiting to discover new and new layers of color and light converging on themselves. The precious golden sand called life measures the moments in the tumult of colors.

About the artist

Ioan Nemtoi is one of Europe’s most popular contemporary glass artists. He works from his studio in Botosani, Romania – the hometown where he was born and spent his youth.

Graduating from the Bucharest Academy of Fine Arts in 1991, Nemtoi set out to make his mark on the world of glass art. And with his great skill and singularly unique approach to glassmaking he has certainly achieved that goal.

Nemtoi is especially renowned for his use of colors and the unique marbling effect he creates with multiple layers of molten glass. His exquisite glass art creations including vases, perfume bottles, bowls, candleholders and plates have been displayed in some of the most prestigious galleries and museums in Europe.
